Culloden Battlefield (8 km) - A cairn recalls this last battle fought on mainland Britain, on 16 April 1746, when the Duke of Cumberland's forces routed 'Bonnie' Prince Charles Edward Stuart's army. The battlefield has been restored to its state on the day of the battle
Clava Cairns (9 km) - A well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves, ring cairns, kerb cairn and standing stones in a beautiful setting. In addition, the remains of a chapel of unknown date can be seen at this site.

Directions
Leave the a9 at Kessock Bridge and take the first exit at the roundabout (last exit if approaching from the North). Take the second exit at the next roundabout, past Inverness College on the right hand side. Take the first exit at the second roundabout and stay in the right hand lane. Turn right at the traffic lights and follow the road around along by the river. The hotel is situated on the left hand side.
